Day 2
The plan
was to get some morning turns and hit the trail to hopefully
be back to work for ½ day. In the back of my head I knew it
would be hard to leave so I started rehearsing my call to my
boss asking for the full day. We had to stay closer to the hut
than the day before and decided to hit some interesting
features I spied southwest of the hut.

Mellow
Turns. We
made a quick warm up run directly behind the hut and
found more good snow. The terrain was mellow but still
worth the effort.
BCD opted to ski the run on his splitboard.
Crazy! Sorry no pic. |

I'm
Gettin' Old Dude.
We found a little jump on the way down. I missed my
method grab by an inch… Guess my old legs don’t
bend as much as they used to. I like this pic because
you can tell the board is split and the poles in the
other hand is cool. If we could just do something
about that ugly mug!

Nice
Launch.
Once down our warm up run we headed to the better
stuff across the valley. 30 minutes later we were
here. BCD catches air into the chute...
... and then opens it up
on the apron below.

My Turn.
After BCD cut up the slope, I took a shot, with steep
turns on the upper face, with a fun air exit onto the
slope below.

The
thing I remember most about this run was the sheer
quietness during it. Everything was silent. The 10
seconds seemed to last an eternity. At the bottom I
was shaking with adrenaline! I love these
moments.
I
called my boss moments later saying I was taking the
whole day as there was more riding that needed to be
done. He however had other plans and told me to get my
ass to work…quickly. The news wasn’t what
I wanted to hear but how could I complain after 2.5
days in paradise with some great company. We cut
out to the hut and made the 5miles out literally in
20mins. It was 11:30 at the car and I made it to work
by 2pm…exactly when I said I’d be there. |
