10th Mtn Division, Gates Hut Backcountry Trip, March 2001

For my 32nd Birthday, Dana took me back home to Colorado to visit our friends Erin and Steve for some skiing at Snowmass and in the backcountry between Aspen and Vail.  After a transportation mishap, we had a great time in Colorado skiing the lift served at Snowmass, and touring to one of the 10th Mtn. Division Huts.

The Story:

After leaving San Francisco on Friday night for what was supposed to be a quick two-hour jaunt to the Eagle/Vail Airport via American Airlines, we instead found ourselves circling for two additional hours before being diverted to Albuquerque due to snowy weather.  That's right, we were flying to Colorado, but Albuquerque is in New Mexico, in case you didn't know.
