Greenstone waterfall.
Just above Greenstone Lake is a nice waterfall.
We hiked up and to the right of the waterfall to reach
the flat bench of the lower Conness Lakes basin. |

Mount Conness.
Atop the waterfall, we get our first full view of the
NE face of Mount Conness (at right), and the Conness
Glacier below. Our route would climb the
snowfields at left, and then traverse over to couloirs
leading to the saddle at the center of this photo. |

Above Conness Lakes.
Here we are ascending the granite slabs above the Conness Lakes.
The two upper lakes had a brilliant turquoise color
and a few floating icebergs. |

Booting the snowfield.
Here's me putting in a bootpack up the first big
snowfield above the Conness Lakes. |

Looking eastward.
After a brief rest at the top of the snowfield, we
began to traverse across and upwards towards the Y-couloir.
Here is a shot of us coming up the lower part of the
glacier, with the peaks of the Virginia Lakes area in
the background (Dunderberg, Black, South Peak and Mt.
Olsen).

Approaching the Y-Couloir.
Chris and Sierra make their way up the glacier to the
base of the Y-Couloir. |
