Backcountry ski and snowboard gear, camping

June 2002

Knife edge.  The route from the top of the couloir to the summit involved some easy but very exposed scrambling.  Note the huge dropoffs to either side of the "sidewalk" in this photo.

Scrambling on the summit ridge.  EB makes his way up the ridge, with the Conness Glacier below.  The bottom of the Y-Couloir is just visible at center left of the photo.

Summit.  Lance celebrates at getting to the top of Conness.

Cathedral Group & Half Dome.  Looking southwest from the summit, you get fantastic views over the Cathedral Group, the Tuolumne Domes and Half Dome.

Chilling at 12,590'.  Lance, EB and Chris take in the views off the NE face of the peak.  Conness Lakes lie far below.

Sierra gets up top.  Not to be outclassed by her bipedal companions, Sierra scrambled her way up to the summit over the exposed ridge.  What a kick butt dog she is.

Mindful of Yosemite NP regulations, we kept Sierra on the Inyo NF side of the summit.

Group summit shot.  Self timer skills were in rare form to get this group shot from over 35 feet away.  This photo looks to the south.  Left to right on the horizon are Banner, Ritter, Donohue, Rodgers, Lyell, Maclure and Florence.
