Starting up the couloir.
From Crystal Lake, we angled up to the left and found
the prominent couloir that splits the west face of the
crag. Mellow at the bottom, the couloir quickly
steepened into some exposed class 3 climbing. |

EB in the couloir.
EB scrambles his way up the middle of the couloir over
some solid rock. Despite this photo, much of the
climbing in this chute was very loose rock and sand. |

Greg at the crux. The crux of this climb
is topping out on the ridge. A tricky and rather
exposed section leads up to the ridge. Here,
Greg negotiates his way over this spot. |

Looking down the chute.
Here's a shot from the South Ridge, looking straight
down the couloir we just climbed up. |

On the ridge. In contrast to the loose
rock in the couloir, the South Ridge had plenty of
nice rock. |

Greg takes flight.
From the top of the couloir, we headed north to the
summit. The ridge itself is a knife edge with
huge dropoffs on both sides. We followed the
ridge for a small ways, until it turned into nasty
class 5 climbing. We downclimbed a bit to the
right to follow a more mellow route just below the
ridge, then rejoined the ridgeline just below the
summit. |
