March 2002

Descending to the hut.  We got back to the hut as the sun was coming down and the snow was starting to firm up.  Here is a photo of Tom descending down the large bowl above the hut.

A nice dinner, warm pellet stove and some Jack Daniels sippin' whiskey over a few games of chess.  What more could you ask for?

Spoon Tracks.  The next morning, Tom & Dafna headed up to Winter Alta.  Meanwhile, I set off early for the high ridge connecting the Tablelands with Winter Alta.  After climbing up the bowl behind the hut, I dropped down into another bowl to the east and saw these old spoon tracks coming down from Winter Alta.

Tablelands Traverse.  My skin track is the only thing marring the landscape in this view back towards the Tablelands from the high ridge above Moose Lake.

On the crest.  Once again looking out over the Kaweah group and the Great Western Divide.  An absolutely awesome view.

Mount Brewer.  View northeast towards Mount Brewer, which crowns the northern end of the magnificent Great Western Divide.
