Looking for Shade.
It was pretty hot at Sunset Lake, despite the 11,400'
elevation. We found some shade against a rock
wall and set up camp (photo: G.Golamco) |

Frozen
Lake.
Mike and Greg went down to the lake to check out the
fish while Griffin and I set up camp and took some
photos. Notice the ice is stacked up on the far
side of the lake. After an hour, the wind picked
up and blew the ice back to our side. We had
icebergs piling up on the rocks near our lakeshore.

Fishin' Time.
Greg picked up a fishing pole in Mammoth on Saturday
morning and put it to good use, pulling several fish
out of the lake.

Trout "Dinner".
I would love to tell you that the fish were tasty, but
they really weren't. In fact, they were
downright terrible. That might have had
something to do with the excess pesto left over in the
frypan from our dinner. |

Sunset
at Sunset.
The light as the sun went down was unreal. Great
alpenglow on all of the peaks. |

Thompson Ridge.
Especially cool in the afternoon light were the
west-facing pinnacles of the Thompson Ridge. They
were on fire with sunlight.
