Rich
on the Summit.
We made it up by 11:30, making for a leisurely four
hour one-way trip. The summit area is relatively
small, which doesn't really allow for great self-timer
camera shots.

View
of Yosemite High Country.
Directly in front of us as we reached the summit was
this view of the Lyell/Maclure massif, and Half Dome
(at far left) -- click on the photo for a larger
version. |

View
South to the Sierra. This magnificent
view was had to the South, over the Minarets and
Volcanic Ridge. It was so clear it seemed like
we could see almost all the way down to the peaks west
of Mt. Whitney.

Half
Dome. From the summit, I snapped this
telephoto shot of Half Dome framed by Mt. Ansel Adams
(left) and Electra Peak (right). |

Griffin
on top.
Griffin takes a rest and checks out the summit
register on top of Ritter. The summit register
on Ritter is in pretty poor shape, with random pages
and entries dating back decades. One cool thing
we saw was old photographs of two guys on the summit
of Mt. Ritter from 1947. |

Lake
Catherine and North Glacier Pass. From
the summit, one looks directly down the NW arete of
Mt. Ritter to Lake Catherine (partially visible
here). The pass just above the lake is North
Glacier Pass, which leads to Thousand Island Lake and
the John Muir Trail.
