Above Emerald Bay.  The views on the Kalmia Ridge are pretty outrageous.  The Crystal Range and Carson Pass in one direction, and Jakes Peak and Lake Tahoe in the other.  Toby admires the view down the Cascade Lake trap towards Emerald Bay (visible just above his pack).

Kalmia Chute.  This nasty looking chute drops off the NW side of the Kalmia peaklet.  Toby contemplates the drop, but thinks better of it.  We skied the more mellow NE side of the peaklet towards Tallac Lake.

Atop the Kalmia Chute.  Chris standing above the chute, showing the mandatory drop at the entrance.  Got nads?

Angora Peak.  A look to the south at another set of nasty looking chutes dropping off the north face of Angora Peak.  In the distance is Silver Peak near Ebbets Pass.

Preparing to Drop In.  Peeling skins near the top of Kalmia peaklet.  The snow down below was absolute shit, as it was pretty much everywhere.  The reward for our crappy turns was a hellish bootpack climb back up to the ridge.

Almost There.  Chris pauses near the top of our hellish climb, scouting a safe route up through the cornices.

Exhausted.  Chris taking a rest on the ridge after finally climbing out of the Tallac lake bowl.

Heading Back Home.  Toby and Chris begin the slog back over Tallac.
