Near the south shore of
Lake Tahoe off the summit of Luther Pass is a nice little
locals "hill" called Waterhouse Peak. During and just
after a big dump, when the avy danger is high, Waterhouse is
a good place to minimize risk by skiing low angle stuff in
the trees. December 29, 2002 was just such a day.
Coming on the heels of an already unreal November and
December, a storm closed out 2002 with a monster dump.
Your tahoebackcountry.net roving correspondents Sierra Fred
and bcrider were there to ski the bottomless and snap a few
pics.
