  • telemarktips.com.  Mitch's awesome e-zine for telemark and backcountry fanatics

  • Telemark Talk.  If you can't find the answer to your question here, it doesn't exist.  Searchable archives are a big plus.

  • SkiTele.com.  A nice looking new e-zine based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Discussion boards and gear reviews.

  • Couloir Magazine.  Local mag gone mainstream.

  • Off-Piste Mag.  Nice e-zine with good b/w photos

  • Descender.  Back online with Mountainzone.

  • Freeheelskier.com.  The "new skool" e-zine from the folks at telemark tips.

  • Backcountry Magazine.  Recently sold to new owners, we'll keep our eyes on this one.

  • The Backcountry (Tahoe) Message Board.  Reader board is a good forum for exchanging trip reports and finding ski partners.

  • SnoNet.  A Bay-area based backcountry ski and ski-mountaineering group.

  • Summitpost.com.  A terrific community of peakbaggers.  Active discussion boards and tons of photos and route information.  Covers mountains all over the world, but content is particularly strong for the Alps, Cascades, Rockies and Sierra Nevada ranges.

  • Sierra Scrambles.  Online community for enthusiasts of peakbagging in the High Sierra.

  • Climber.org.  Calls itself an "online community devoted to encouraging climbing by sustaining the internet presence of mountaineering clubs and by fostering electronic communication among mountaineers."   This site is a terrific information resource.

  • Sierra Club -- NorCal Backcountry Ski Section.

  • GORP.  A good online resource for anything outdoors.

  • Turns All Year.  Interesting community website dedicated to tele'ing in the PNW and doing it 12 months out of the year.

  • Bobskiing.com.  Bob Akka's website, including a killer online index of backcountry tours in the Sierra Nevada, including a few in the Tahoe area.

  • PawPrince.com.  SLC-based skier/writer/photographer Andrew MacLean's website.

  • Mark Su's Telemark Page.  We found this website through random surfing.  It has nice photography.

  • Bob Burd's Sierra Travels.  A growing and excellent archive of Sierra peak bagging with detailed photos and route descriptions.

  • Deub's photo gallery.  Real nice photos of skiing in the Alps and California.

  • Peakaholic's Gore Range Guide.  I grew up hiking in the Gore Range of Colorado, one of the most underrated places in the lower 48.  This is a great homemade guide to the area.

  • Thousand Peaks.  Pete Yamagata's website dedicated to promoting the climbing of peaks throughout the Pacific West.  Contains a great collection of photos and information chronicling his 1000+ peak ascents.  Also some decent old-school backcountry skiing photos.

  • Ron Karpel's Peaks Gallery.  Photos of many Sierra peaks, as well as some trip reports.

  • Gordie's Ramblings in the High Sierra.  Collection of links and resources about the eastern Sierra Nevada.

  • Tom Kenney's High Sierra.  Trip reports and photography from the Sierra Nevada.

  • TopoZone.  My most visited site on the web.  Free access to all USGS topos online, with a robust searchable placenames index.

  • Inyo NF Eastern Sierra Recreation Report.  Road info, wilderness permits, etc.  Check here if you are headed to the Eastern Sierra. 

  • Whitney Portal Store.  Official website of the portal store, at the base of the Mt. Whitney Trail.  Your best source for up to date trail conditions, trip reports, etc.

  • 395.com.  A collection of useful information on recreation and businesses along the scenic US 395 corridor from Reno to Ridgecrest.

  • Tahoe Rim Trail Official Web Site.  Support this organization that is building a 150-mile ring trail around beautiful Lake Tahoe.
